This page has links to Our Travel Blogs. You will find a link for each of our major trips; the link will take you to the first post for that travel story, and you will find a link to take you to the next post in that series at the bottom of each post. This lets you skip the random posts about our daily life, although you are welcome to read those exciting tales as well.
Our early travel blogs were originally written using Google Blogger, and it was easy to do a separate blog for each trip. We’ve been using WordPress since 2011. I did do a completely separate blog for our Ultra Alaska Adventure in 2013, but it was a lot of effort.
This is a work in progress. Still need to add our California Zephyr Train Trip to Glacier National Park. Not to mention coordinating our many posts for Acadia National Park.
It all started with our cruise from Florida to Maine in May 2010. We’d owned Promise Promise for 6 years, but hardly had a chance to get out on the water. This is the story of our 5 week cruise up the Intracoastal Waterway, through the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, finally arriving in Camden, Maine.
In July of 2010, we flew to Indonesia for Chrisie’s (our niece) wedding. From there we went to Australia for a few weeks to visit friends and see some sights. Highlights include our stays at Kanagaroo Island, and Longitude 131 at Uluru. We also did a 12 day whirlwind tour of New Zealand.
We made a trip to Oregon to attend the SP&S RR Historical Society Convention in May of 2011; also visited the wine country with Chuck & Nina, the Oregon coast, and Crater Lake.
Our first official Photo Tour was in 2008, to the Smoky Mountains. Lou was the principal photographer on this tour, and I was along for the ride.
In 2008, we joined the Van Os Photo Safari to the Arctic – after flying to Norway, we went further north and boarded a ship to cruise to Svalbard/Spitsbergen. Not a complete travel log, but the link shows some photo highlights of our trip.
2008 also took us on another Van Os Photo Safari to see Denali in the Fall. Work interfered, so Lou made this a solo trek. This trip was the precursor to many more Alaska Adventures.
2012 took us to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Another photo Safari, with Len Rue, Jr. leading our group.
2013 was the year of our Ultra Alaska Adventure – a one month long adventure – we Un-Cruised for 3 weeks, then we did a short Land Tour to Denali National Park and Redoubt Bay. Read more in the link below:
2015 brought another Alaska Adventure. Two weeks, starting with a Van Os Photo Safari to see bears in Silver Salmon Creek You are invited to read about bears and our stay at the Alaska Homestead Lodge.
The second week of our Alaska 2015 Adventure took us to Denali National Park & Preserve, and the North Face Lodge.
We love Alaska so much we took the family in the summer of 2016. Lou arranged a 2 Week UnCruise on the Wilderness Discoverer. We were also joined by our friends Kathy and Steve.
Alaska 2019 describes our two week visit to Kenai Fjords NP, and Lake Clark NP.
In 2018, we traveled to Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands for an incredible Adventure. Our travel partners included Olivia & Catherine, and Amy & Claudia.
Our first family Disney Cruise was aboard the Disney Dream in 2012. This was a 5 Night Cruise to the Bahamas with a double dip at Castaway Cay. We celebrated Olivia’s birthday.
Our second family Cruise was also on the Disney Dream. This time we did a 4 Night Cruise to the Bahamas. It was Tory’s birthday cruise.
2017 was our longest Disney Cruise on the Fantasy – 7 nights, with stops at Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and Castaway Cay. It was a Star Wars Cruise
